Carrier verification for small freight factoring companies

At a small freight factor, the same few people underwrite the client, verify the loads and approve the ACH. CarrierKYC's Verified Payee is built for that desk. Before you fund a new carrier, it checks that the person applying controls the carrier and that the bank account belongs to the carrier. Afterwards, it re-verifies every bank or remit-to change before the next payment goes out.

It's in early access, and pilots are open to small factors. It sits next to your back-office software and doesn't replace it. Founding pricing is a free 60-day pilot, then $399 a month with 20 verified onboardings included, $25 for each extra onboarding, and payee-change re-verifications included.

What we hear, and what helps

  1. 01

“There are five of us. Nobody has time to video-call every new carrier.”

Verified Payee sends the applicant a link to complete an ID and selfie check, and matches that person to the officers on the carrier's FMCSA record. Your team reviews a finished case file instead of running the call.

  2. 02

“A voided check doesn't prove anything anymore.”

Verified Payee's bank-ownership check confirms that the account holder's name matches the carrier's legal name before the first ACH, instead of relying on a picture of a check.

  3. 03

“The email that scares me is 'we changed banks, please update our remit-to.'”

With Verified Payee, any bank or remit-to change holds the next payment and sends a re-verification to the officer verified at onboarding. Until you're set up, use the free remit-change checklist as your written SOP.

  4. 04

“I can't always tell whether a carrier already has a factor.”

Verified Payee includes a UCC and prior-factor check at onboarding. You can also run it by hand with the 50-state UCC search directory, and see UCC searches before you fund.

  5. 05

“Enterprise fraud software isn't priced for a shop our size.”

Founding pricing is a free 60-day pilot, then $399 a month with 20 verified onboardings included, $25 for each extra onboarding, and payee-change re-verifications included. See pricing, or request a pilot.

What Verified Payee checks

  • The person: ID and selfie, matched to the officers on the carrier's FMCSA record.
  • The bank account: the account holder matched to the carrier's legal name.
  • The carrier: FMCSA authority and insurance status at onboarding.
  • Liens and prior factors: a UCC and prior-factor check before you fund.
  • Every later change: bank, remit-to and ownership changes are re-verified before the next ACH.

How it fits your current process

Keep your SAFER lookups, your NOAs and your factoring software. Verified Payee adds the two checks a manual process handles worst: who is really applying, and who owns the account. Our carrier vetting checklist shows where each check belongs, and the remit-to change SOP covers what to do when a client asks to change banks.

If you're weighing it against what you do today, read CarrierKYC vs SAFER lookups and a spreadsheet. It includes the cases where the manual process is enough.

The carrier risk check shows authority age, revocations, insurance, out-of-service orders and other carriers sharing a phone, email or address. The NOA generator drafts notices of assignment and release letters. When you want to see Verified Payee end to end, walk through the demo.

Frequently asked questions

Does Verified Payee replace my factoring software?

No. It sits next to your back-office system and covers onboarding identity, bank ownership and payee changes. Schedules, NOAs, collections and ACH stay where they are.

Does CarrierKYC detect double factoring?

No, not today. It checks UCC and prior-factor status at onboarding, which helps, but it doesn't detect the same invoice being sold twice. Our double factoring guide covers the checks that do help.

What does my carrier have to do?

Complete a link: an ID and selfie check and a bank-ownership step. If they later change banks or ownership, the verified officer completes a short re-verification before the next payment.

How mature is the product?

It's in early access. Pilots are open to small factors, and the founding pricing is published as a hypothesis on the pricing page.
