Lenders learned a long time ago that a real business on paper says nothing about who is applying. Every loan I've helped underwrite started with two questions: is this person who they say they are, and is this account really theirs? Consumer lending answers both in minutes, with document checks, selfie matching, and bank-account ownership verification.
Freight factoring mostly still answers them with a SAFER lookup, a phone call, and a photo of a voided check. That worked when fraud meant a fake company. It doesn't now that fraud means a real carrier with a hijacked email, an urgent bank-change request, or a new owner nobody verified. Read how carrier identity theft works and why remit-to changes are where the money goes.
CarrierKYC is my attempt to give small factors the same verification a bank would run, priced for a shop with five people and built around the moment that actually loses money: the bank change.
The founder
I'm Isaac Welch, based in Greenville, South Carolina. I've spent more than eight years building consumer lending infrastructure: borrower verification, underwriting decisioning, payments, and compliance systems in regulated production environments. I also build RAVEN, borrower verification software for community banks. CarrierKYC is built on the same verification engine behind RAVEN.
What CarrierKYC is not
- Not a factoring company, and not a lender. We never touch your funds.
- Not a replacement for your back-office software. We sit next to it.
- Not a double-factoring detector, yet. That needs data sharing between factors and comes later, if factors want it.
- Not affiliated with FMCSA or USDOT. We read their public data and show you exactly where each fact came from.
- Not SOC 2 audited, yet. We're in early access and agree data handling in writing with every pilot.
How we write and source
Guides cite primary sources: UCC text, FMCSA, and the Federal Register. Vendor statistics are labelled as vendor data. Comparisons carry a last-verified date and say plainly when a competitor is the better fit. If something is wrong, tell me below and I'll fix it.
