CarrierKYC vs MyCarrierPackets (Descartes): packets vs payee checks
MyCarrierPackets began as Assure Assist's online carrier packet: carriers complete their profile, agree to contracts and submit an electronic W-9 or W-8 on a customized web page. Assure Assist does business as MyCarrierPortal, and Descartes Systems Group bought it in September 2024. Today mycarrierpackets.com opens a MyCarrierPortal login page.
CarrierKYC isn't a carrier packet. It verifies that the person onboarding with a factor controls the carrier and that the bank account belongs to the carrier, then holds every later payee change for re-verification.

Names and ownership
The names cause confusion, so here is what we could confirm. Descartes' Aljex integration guide calls it "Assure Assist's MyCarrierPackets" and describes it as an online carrier packet that needs its own subscription. DC Velocity reported that Descartes bought Assure Assist Inc., doing business as MyCarrierPortal, for $24 million upfront plus up to $6 million in performance payments, announced 2024-09-18.
What it does for brokers
Descartes says MyCarrierPortal checks carrier records against government sources, holds Certificates of Insurance for more than 350,000 carriers, alerts users when a carrier falls outside their risk or insurance rules, and lets users file incident reports that feed custom risk ratings. FreightWaves reported in 2025 that Carrier Assure's score now shows inside the MyCarrierPortal dashboard.
In October 2026, Logistics Viewpoints reported that Descartes outlined new fraud features at its Innovation Forum, including two-factor validation of users and checks on whether an individual is associated with the carrier. The same report frames them for brokers and shippers, and doesn't mention payment details or factoring.
A W-9 is not proof of who owns the account
A carrier packet collects what the carrier tells you: its profile, its signature and its tax form. For a factor, the costly question is different: does the bank account belong to the carrier, and is the person changing it someone who controls the carrier? Verified Payee checks both, and repeats the check on every change. See the remit-to change SOP.
Frequently asked questions
Is MyCarrierPackets the same as MyCarrierPortal?
Both names belong to Assure Assist, which Descartes bought in 2024. MyCarrierPackets is the online carrier packet; MyCarrierPortal is the onboarding and monitoring platform. Today mycarrierpackets.com opens a MyCarrierPortal login page.
Who owns MyCarrierPackets now?
Descartes Systems Group, which announced the acquisition of Assure Assist Inc. (doing business as MyCarrierPortal) on 2024-09-18.
Does MyCarrierPortal verify carrier bank accounts?
The Descartes pages and reporting we reviewed on 2026-10-19 don't describe bank-account ownership checks or a hold on bank changes. The packet does collect a W-9, which confirms tax details, not account ownership.
What does it cost?
Pricing isn't published. The Aljex guide says it requires a subscription, and the site offers a demo. CarrierKYC's founding pricing is a free 60-day pilot, then $399 a month with 20 verified onboardings included, $25 for each extra onboarding, and payee-change re-verifications included. See pricing.
